Mario Silva
Distinguished Fellow; Former Member of Parliament and Toronto City Councillor
Mario Silva is an international legal scholar, a former Toronto City Councillor and federal Member of Parliament. He is currently a Distinguished Fellow at Toronto Metropolitan University, Ted Rogers School of Management and Lincoln Alexander School of Law
Silva municipal expertise include in the areas of infrastructure, economic development, energy and transportation. He is the former Chair of the Economic Development Committee; Chair of Exhibition Place; Vice Chair of the Toronto Transit Commission; Toronto Hydro and Mount Sinai Hospital. He is currently a Director of the Board of Toronto Hydro Electric Service Limited and Chair of the Corporate Social Responsibility Council of Superior Medical.
Silva served as the Official Opposition Critic for Foreign Affairs (Americas), Labour and Treasury Board as well as a member of the International Trade Committee. In 2013 he was appointed by Prime Minister of Canada to be the Canadian Chair of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, and intergovernmental body of 31 Member States. He has been honoured by the governments of Brazil, France and Portugal.
