Peter Sloly
Changemaker-in-Residence and Visiting Fellow, Massey College, Former Police Chief, Ottawa Police Service, Founder and CEO, Sloly Solutions Inc.
Peter Sloly is the founder and CEO of Sloly Solutions Inc. which provides strategic advice to governments, private sector organizations and public sector agencies to help them achieve differentiated outcomes that contribute to smarter, safer cities as well as more inclusive, just societies. Peter is a subject matter expert in the areas of security convergence, police/justice modernization, community safety, and well-being. Peter is a “Visiting Fellow” at University of Toronto’s Massey College where he has been appointed as “Changemaker-in-Residence” in recognition of his extensive expertise and experience leading organizational and cultural change as well as for his life-long commitment to championing “IDEA” (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism). Peter enjoyed successful careers as a professional athlete, a partner at a professional services firm, and as a police officer who rose through the ranks to become Chief of Police (Ottawa Police Service). Over the course of his working life, Peter has travelled to five continents and over fifty countries which included two tours of duty in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Kosovo. Peter is a recipient of the United Nations and Canadian Peacekeeping Medals as well as being invested as an “Officer of the Order of Merit” (Police Forces) by the Governor General of Canada. Peter is a graduate of the FBI’s “National Academy” and a graduate of the Canadian Forces College “National Strategic Security Studies” program. He has a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Peter’s personal motto is “others before self, compassion for all”. He was born in Jamaica, immigrated to Canada and lives in Ottawa with his wife and two children.
