Sharry Aiken

Sharry Aiken is one of Canada’s most respected experts on immigration and refugee law and policy. She is a Professor at Queen’s University’s Faculty of Law and is also affiliated with the Queen’s Cultural Studies Program. Her research and teaching interests include migration law and policy, and the securitization of borders. Sharry is a past president of the Canadian Council for Refugees (CCR), co-editor of the PKI Global Justice Journal, and former Editor-in-Chief of the journal Refuge. She has appeared as pro bono counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada in a number of precedent setting refugee and immigration cases and continues to be active member of the CCR’s legal affairs committee.
